It’s incredible how the little behaviours we have as children can be a glimpse of who we will become when we grow up. We have often spoken about our childhood and the things we remember doing and being drawn to. How we have both always been affected by our environments and felt a desire to make them as nice as they could possibly be. These behaviours have developed throughout our lives to bring us to where we are today, and it is both interesting and lovely to be able to recognise these naturally instinctive qualities as the beginning of our passion for interiors.

While most children would ask for a particular toy for their birthday, Kylie remembers always asking for something that would both visually and functionally enhance her bedroom, which very much resonates with her practical approach on design today. Kylie’s greatest strengths and passions are in spatial planning, problem solving, and designing functional spaces. She is also a huge advocate for delivering comfortable and easy living spaces.

As a child, Nyria shared a bedroom with her sister. She remembers making sure both of their beds were made neatly every day to bring order and beauty to the bedroom. Nyria’s strengths and passions are still very much all about the furnishings and the overall look and feel of an interior. She is enamoured with beautiful fabrics, colour, lighting, shapes and forms all curated and arranged together to set a tone and create a balanced space.

We have both completed a ‘Bachelor of Design’ degree from the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University before starting our careers in interior design. We have worked closely together for the past fourteen years, being fortunate enough to meet whilst working for our fabulous mentor, interior designer John Croft, until he retired and closed his business in early 2017. After that, we became the creators and directors of Palm Interiors. Together, the combination of our individual skills, along with the years of experience we both bring to the table, allow us to offer a unified and complete approach to every project. 

 

We have a genuine passion for delivering beautiful, well planned interiors. Our expertise focuses on the mid to high end residential market, with occasional commercial and multi-res projects in our portfolio. 

 

We are based in Brisbane but always welcome new projects whether they be coastal, rural or interstate.
